Best colleges in Pune ranked by NIRF, rating or placement.
This tool sorts Pune colleges by the ranking signal you choose — NIRF rank, student rating or placement — because 'best' means different things depending on what you are optimising for.
Pick a ranking basis
NIRF is a government assessment, student rating is lived experience, placement is outcome. They frequently disagree, and that disagreement is informative.

Rankings are only comparable within a discipline. NIRF itself publishes separate category tables.
Cross-check the top entries
A college that ranks well on all three signals is a genuinely safe choice. One that ranks well on only one deserves a closer look.
NAAC grades appear throughout the rankings, so they are worth reading properly.
| Grade | CGPA band | What it signals |
|---|---|---|
| A++ | 3.51 – 4.00 | Highest band NAAC awards. Signals sustained results across teaching, research and governance. |
| A+ | 3.26 – 3.50 | Strong institution, usually with established research output. |
| A | 3.01 – 3.25 | Solidly accredited; the most common grade among well-regarded colleges. |
| B++ | 2.76 – 3.00 | Above average. Worth checking department-level strength. |
| B+ | 2.51 – 2.75 | Accredited and compliant; quality varies by department. |
| B | 2.01 – 2.50 | Meets requirements. Look closely at placement and faculty. |
| C | 1.51 – 2.00 | Accredited but weak on NAAC's own measures. |
| Not accredited | — | No valid NAAC cycle. Not automatically bad — new institutes cannot apply until they have graduated a batch — but it means there is no third-party quality check. |
NAAC accreditation runs in cycles and can lapse. Check the validity date, not only the grade.
They measure different things. NIRF weighs research output, faculty qualifications and institutional resources; student ratings reflect teaching, facilities and administration as experienced day to day. A research-heavy institute can rank highly while students report average teaching — and that is genuinely useful to know.
Not necessarily. NIRF participation is voluntary and newer institutes may not yet be eligible. Use NAAC accreditation, placement record and course approvals to assess those instead.
The one that matches your goal. For a research career, weight NIRF. For employment straight after graduation, weight placement — but read it critically. For quality of daily life on campus, weight student rating.
College records — fees, courses, accreditation, placement and cutoff figures — come from CollegePune's own published database and are revised as institutes release new information. Always confirm the final figure against the college's official admission notice before you pay anything, because institutes can revise fees mid-cycle.
