Top Ten Engineering Colleges in Pune 2026 — Ranked with Fees & Cutoffs

A top-ten list of Pune engineering colleges is only honest if it says where the meaningful gaps fall, and there are two. The first is between COEP and everything else — its cutoff, alumni network and recruiter list put it in a category of one within the city. The second is between roughly the fifth and sixth positions, below which placement outcomes start depending far more on the individual student than on the institution. Between those two gaps sits a tight band — PICT, VIT Pune, Cummins, MIT-WPU — where the differences are small enough that the branch you are offered should decide between them rather than the ranking position. Taking CSE at the fourth-ranked college is a better decision than taking Mechanical at the second for almost anyone targeting software work. Fees range from ₹80,000 a year at COEP to ₹4.8L at SIT, and the placement spread across that range is roughly ₹12 LPA down to ₹7 LPA. That is not proportional, which is the central financial fact of this list: the cheapest colleges on it are also the best-placing ones. Work out the four-year total including hostel, compare it against the branch-level median package rather than the highest, and the ordering becomes much clearer than any ranking can make it.
