Symbiosis does not run one entrance examination. It runs several, each admitting to a different set of programmes, and registering for the wrong one is the most common and most expensive mistake candidates make with this university group. The registration fee is the smallest part of the cost; the real cost is a cycle spent preparing for a test that does not admit you to the course you wanted. SET — the Symbiosis Entrance Test — is the general undergraduate entrance, admitting to programmes across liberal arts, economics, media and communication, and several other undergraduate offerings. SNAP is the management test, admitting to the postgraduate management institutes including SCMHRD, SIBM Pune and SIIB. SITEEE is the engineering test, admitting to the Symbiosis Institute of Technology at Lavale. SLAT is the law test, for Symbiosis Law School. Four tests, four separate calendars, four separate registration windows. Because the institutes share a campus and a brand, candidates reasonably assume the admission process is shared too. It is not. Each institute publishes its own admission notice, its own accepted test, its own selection stages and its own fee schedule. The one reliable procedure is to open the specific institute's own admissions page for the specific programme you want, find the test named there for the current year, and register for that — before paying any registration fee.
⚡ Quick Answer
Symbiosis runs four separate entrance tests: SET for general undergraduate programmes, SNAP for management, SITEEE for engineering at SIT Lavale, and SLAT for law. Each has its own calendar and registration window. Confirm the test named on your specific institute's admission page before registering.
| Test | Admits to | Level |
|---|---|---|
| SET | Liberal arts, economics, media and communication, and other UG programmes | Undergraduate |
| SNAP | SCMHRD, SIBM Pune, SIIB and the other management institutes | Postgraduate management |
| SITEEE | Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Lavale | Undergraduate engineering |
| SLAT | Symbiosis Law School | Undergraduate law |
| Others | Health sciences and specialised institutes run separate processes | Varies |
Health sciences and some specialised institutes sit outside these four and run their own processes again. Never assume the four cover everything — check the institute page.
A score alone is rarely the whole process. Most Symbiosis institutes run further selection stages — written ability assessments, group exercises and personal interaction — after the entrance result, on their own calendars. Budget time for those, and remember that as a private deemed university, Symbiosis sets its own fees, which sit well above the state-approved band that CAP-admitted Maharashtra colleges operate in.
