Pune University MBA Fees 2026 — PUMBA & SPPU-Affiliated College Costs

There are two very different things people mean by a Pune University MBA, and the fee difference between them is roughly ten-fold. The first is PUMBA — the Department of Management Sciences run by Savitribai Phule Pune University itself — where the full two-year programme costs approximately ₹1L to ₹2L. The second is any of the many colleges affiliated to SPPU that award an SPPU MBA degree, where fees run ₹4L to ₹10L. PUMBA is, on the numbers, the best-value MBA in the city and arguably in the state. Against a total cost near ₹1.5L it places graduates at roughly ₹6–9 LPA, a ratio no private institute in Pune approaches. That is precisely why its MAH-CET cutoff is among the highest in Maharashtra and why the seat count is small relative to demand. The affiliated colleges are a different proposition. They award the same university degree but charge private-institute fees and place across a wide band, from ₹6 LPA at the better ones down to ₹3–4 LPA at the weakest. The degree certificate looking similar does not make the outcomes similar. This page sets out both fee structures, what is included, and how to judge whether a given SPPU-affiliated MBA is worth its price.

⚡ Quick Answer

PUMBA — the SPPU Department of Management Sciences — charges roughly ₹1L–2L for the full two-year MBA and places at ₹6–9 LPA, the best ROI in Pune. SPPU-affiliated private colleges award the same university degree but charge ₹4L–10L with placements from ₹3–6 LPA. Both admit through MAH-CET and the state CAP process. Judge affiliated colleges on median package against total cost, not on the degree name.

Judging Whether an Affiliated College Is Worth It

  1. 1.Total the real two-year cost including hostel and living expenses, not the tuition line alone.
  2. 2.Ask for the median placement package and the percentage placed, in writing.
  3. 3.Divide the median by the total cost. Below roughly 0.8, the programme needs a specific justification.
  4. 4.Check which companies recruited and whether the roles were management or commission-based sales.
  5. 5.Compare against simply retaking MAH-CET for a PUMBA or better seat, which is often the stronger financial decision.
  6. 6.Factor MahaDBT and EBC eligibility, which applies to MBA and materially changes the net cost for eligible candidates.

Scholarships That Apply to an SPPU MBA

  • MahaDBT post-matric schemes for SC, ST, OBC, VJNT and SBC candidates
  • EBC concession for open-category candidates below the notified income limit
  • Minority community scholarships for notified communities
  • TFWS seats where offered, claimed at the CAP option-filling stage rather than afterwards
  • Education loans, for which the low PUMBA fee makes repayment straightforward against its placement band
