Campus area is the kind of figure that appears in brochures because it is easy to state and hard to argue with, and it is close to useless as a basis for choosing a college. Before quoting any acreage figure, though, there is a prior problem: MIT in Pune is not one institution. The name covers several separate bodies under the MIT Group of Institutions — MIT World Peace University at Kothrud, MIT Academy of Engineering at Alandi, MIT Art Design and Technology University at Rajbaug near Loni Kalbhor, and other institutions in the group — each with a different campus in a different part of Pune district. So an acreage figure that does not name the campus tells you nothing. The Kothrud campus is an urban site in the city; the Rajbaug and Alandi campuses are considerably further out and larger. Those are genuinely different propositions in terms of commute, residence and daily life, and the difference matters far more than the number of acres attached to either. Which points at the more useful version of the question. What candidates actually want to know when they ask about campus is whether they can commute or must reside, what the residence costs, whether hostel is guaranteed, and what facilities exist for the branch they are joining. Those are answerable, they change the decision, and they are worth asking about directly on a campus visit — which will also tell you more about the campus in an hour than any acreage figure will.
⚡ Quick Answer
MIT in Pune is several separate institutions — MIT-WPU at Kothrud, MIT Academy of Engineering at Alandi, MIT ADT at Rajbaug and others — on different campuses of different sizes. An acreage figure without a campus name is meaningless, and campus area is not a useful basis for choosing anyway. Ask about commute, residence and facilities instead.
| Institution | Location | Character of the campus |
|---|---|---|
| MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) | Kothrud, Pune city | Urban campus, commutable from the city |
| MIT Academy of Engineering | Alandi | Outside the city, largely residential |
| MIT Art Design and Technology University | Rajbaug, Loni Kalbhor | Large outlying campus, residential |
| Other MIT Group institutions | Various | Confirm individually |
These admit separately, charge separately and publish separately. A fee, cutoff or placement figure for one is not transferable to another, and neither is a campus description.
Visit. An hour on campus during a working day answers the residence question, the facilities question and the atmosphere question at once, and it is the only way to check the things a brochure cannot misrepresent. If a visit is not possible, ask current students of your branch rather than the admissions office — they have no reason to sell you anything.
